As many of you may already know, on September 20th, Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria, a Category 4 storm which left our brothers and sisters on the island in dire need and crisis.
The last couple of days following the election of Donald Trump have left many of us feeling disheartened, disappointed, and hopeless. Despite how devastated we are, we are not helpless. There is a lot of work to do and as Hillary told us in her concession speech, “never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and to achieve your own dreams.”
Maylin Reynoso, a 20-year-old dominicana who went missing on July 27 and was found dead in the Harlem River just three days later is yet another example of how people of color are often the forgotten ones.
